Spearheaded by high school liaison Luke VanOver, Relay for Life is gearing up for a season of fund raising for the American Cancer Society.  In November, Luke and fellow WMHS Seniors started to spread the word via bulletin boards, school-based announcements and social media connections.  Freshman Daniela Escalante came on board to initiate a team and to host a December bake sale with friends.  Students who have Relay’d in the past were excited to see to event kick off.  Senior Rebecca Jurkovic stopped by the bake sale to say, “See you on the field.”

Luke Van Over is particularly thrilled to announce the Coaches versus Cancer fundraising that is going on in tandem with the Wayne Relay, saying, “It’s such a simple way to get the word out about this cause.”  “I hope everyone takes a minute to stop by the Relay tables at basketball games and hockey games this winter,” urged Senior class president Dylan Piero.  Tables will be set up at any winter sporting event where WMHS faces off against Wayne Valley or Wayne Hills high schools.  To join Relay, interested people need only access the website at http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR/RelayForLife/RFLCY16EA?pg=entry&fr_id=73326.  Relay is scheduled for Saturday, June 11, 2016.
