Congratulations to the Highlander Marching Band for an awesome season! The Highlander Band has stepped onto football fields and participated in numerous competitions from Northern New Jersey to around the country with their new 2015-2016 show entitled “Arabesque”. The show features amazing soloists Zach McIntyre on his French horn, Rebecca Kronyak on the soprano saxophone, and the pipe major Sarah Schoenfeld with her admirable bagpipe feature.
Right from the beginning the marching band had wonderful momentum. The band earned fourth place at the Roxbury competition, which was already a step up from last season. The band had also done something absolutely historical. The Highlander band had taken first place in the Yamaha Cup! On Saturday, September 26th, the band made its way out to Metlife stadium and won first place in their division for the first time in history! “Arabesque” had the crowd screaming and cheering and certainly impressed the judges. The band took the awards for Best Visual Effect, Best Percussion, and Best Overall Effect. The band also took first place for the first time in history in division 5A in the State Championships with Best Overall Effect at Rutgers University! Not only that, but the band went to National Championships and took 6th place!
The band always proudly represents the musical talent in West Milford and continues to execute that every year, and this year was no exception. So congrats to the Highlander band on their beautiful show “Arabesque” and their awesome season!
Everyone is so proud of you and have fun on this year’s trip across the pond to Scotland!
